REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2001
The attacks of September 11, 2001, occurred only a few weeks before the World’s Championship Chili Cookoff. In the midst of our fear, mourning and uncertainty, the ICS had to decide whether to proceed as planned or to cancel. The decision was made to move forward with the event.
As the bagpipes played Amazing Grace during the WCCC opening ceremonies, tears flooded our eyes, people held hands and gathered strength from one another.
Today we’re remembering the atrocities of September 11th. Today and every day we remember and honor those who were lost.
