CERTIFIED CHILI JUDGES CLASS
The ICS is introducing our new Certified Chili Judges program which has been designed to bring consistency to the knowledge of our judges, particularly newer ones. We will hold two classes at The Radisson Hotel over WCCC weekend, Thursday from 3:30pm-6:30pm and Friday from 7:30am-10:30am. You must be an Active ICS member to take the class. Membership to the ICS is $50/year. If you’re notan active member, you can join on site prior to the class. The class fee is $45. Included in the class fee is the Certified Chili Judges Handbook, given to you in the classroom and your personalized name badge and a Certificate of Completion declaring that you are an ICS Certified Chili Judge that will be mailed toyou approximately two weeks after the class. The classes will be taught by Steve Porter, Chief Judge for the WCCC and Jim Beaty, the 1986 ICS World’s Champion. The classes are designed to clarify the definition of what the ICS considers “true chili” and to demonstrate what the ICS believes chili is NOT. You’ll be given a chance to judge 8-10 bowls of chili, compare your ballot with others and discuss your comments. If you’re interested in taking one of the classes, please contact Vickie at 949-496-2651. Each class is limited to 50 students. If there is space available, walk-ins will be taken at the time of the class. The class is NOT mandatory and certification is NOT required to judge at the 2011 WCCC or cookoffs during the year.
