DON’T FORGET THE RULE CHANGES FOR THE 2011-2012 COOKING SEASON
The following rules will be effective for the 2011-2012 cooking season, which began October 1, 2011.
· A minimum of 10 contestants must compete in a specific category, ie, red chili, chili verde or salsa, for that category to be recognized as a qualifying event. This will apply to all cookoffs - District, Regional, State and Foreign.
· The required number of red cooks for a Regional Cookoff has been 20 for the past several years. The ICS has been lenient and allowed the Regional status to continue even though the numbers were not met. In fact, there were more than 40 Regional Cookoffs in 2009-2010 that had fewer than 20 cooks. The 20 cook rule for Regional Cookoffs will be strictly enforced. Any Regional Cookoff that did not have 20 red cooks participating in their 2010-2011 cookoff will be a District Cookoff in the 2011-2012 cooking season and must remove the word “Regional” from the cookoff name since that term implies that the winner will advance to the WCCC as in the past and will cause confusion.
