Dear Chili Head!
We’re gearing up for our 2nd Annual Upstate Chili Cook-off in Belton, SC. On April 16, Belton will host the International Chili Society (ICS), South Carolina Chili Cook-off Championship. The winner of this event is guaranteed an entry into the World Chili Cook-off Championship. The 2010 Upstate Chili Cook-off was a success in its first year! We had over 2500 people visit our small town for this family event. Donations were made to Belton Interfaith Ministerial Association, Belton Area Museum and Belton Center for the Arts. Visitors and natives of Belton were able to learn about the cities background and points of interest. We believe this exposure and hospitality will create a platform of interest for people to eagerly return for other hosted events as well as this year’s event. Based on the experience gained, the 2011 event will be well organized and additional attractions will be added for our guests.
The Holiday Inn in Anderson at 3509 Clemson Boulevard will be the spot to stay for out-of-town participants and guests. Room rates are reduced to $79 for Chili Cook-off participants. They will also be hosting the Cooks’ Party on April 15th in the lounge/restaurant area of the hotel. Rooms may be reserved by calling 864-226-1000.
