It was a beautiful day in Lake Havasu and perfect weather for a chili cookoff, especially being within walking distance to the lake.  It doesn’t get any better than that!  The annual Sand and Water Expo was in the same venue with many  off-road vehicles, trucks, sand rails, ATVs, 4 x 4s, buggies, motorcycles, RVs, boats, etc. on display and for sale.

A special thanks to Bob and Louise Dinneweth for coming out to help us again, Bob as Chief Judge and Louise with scorekeeping.  Another big thank you to Mike Vedder and his Athletic Boosters Club for sponsoring the cookoff and volunteering during the day. And we can’t forget to thank Bob Brown, the promoter of the Expo and the upcoming April Boat show and chili cookoff.

We had 10 cooks participate and quite a large crowd of hungry chili eaters.  Most cooks were out of People’s Choice in less than 2 hours.

And the winners were:

People’s Choice:

$100 – John Andreola, Nautical Inn chef

3rd Place - $100 – Marsha Wohler

2nd Place - $300 – Ken Hook

1st Place - $500 – Charles Harbor – qualifies for 2014 WCCC Homestyle

We also appreciated and thank Dolores for donating extra chili to serve to the public.  Thanks to all the cooks who participated to make it a qualified cook-off.  Everyone had a great time during the day and we’re looking forward to our April cook-off – more details will be available shortly.
